NEWS FROM THE VARBERGS

New Believers:   Forty-one young people are the fruit of the evangelistic efforts of our college campus ministries over the last four months.  They have just started a two and a half day New Believers Retreat this weekend.  Please pray that they would each grow strong in their faith and begin to have a daily quiet time as a result of this retreat.

We Thank God:  Thanks to the generous year-end donations of several of you, our Junior Varsity Volleyball boys andgirls teams are now able to use the new High School Gym for practice.  The bathrooms are not finished yet and we still need to fabricate and install the louvers around the building and enclose the bleacher area, but at least the kids are able to practice and play and our coaches are able to challenge them in areas of skills and character.  Please pray that our coaches would each be growing closer to God so that they can be spiritual coaches for our players.

Only one-fourth of the students at Bethel International School have parents who are believers. Yet because we are a Christian school our teachers and staff are able to teach Christian truths as they teach academic subjects. As we look towards next year we want to ask you to help us find some good teachers for our school.

Teachers Needed:  Our students want to learn.  Please join us in praying that God would provide gifted teachers to come teach at our school this coming school year.

Here are our staff needs for the 2017-18 school year.
– Teachers for First and Second Grade
– English specialist to develop the English skills of our Filipino faculty
– Experienced English teachers
– High School Math teacher
– Physics and Chemistry teachers
– Assistant Principal
– School Chaplain
– Counselor to help students with emotional or learning difficulties

If you know anyone who could fill one of these needs please forward this email to them. Bethel provides housing and a vehicle to use so they only really need to raise support for their meals, toiletries, and flights.  Retired people with a pension hardly have to raise anything and can really be an asset for our ministry because of their skills and experience.  Please have anyone interested in more information about teaching at our school watch the video below and email me at – paulvarberg@gmail.com

Personal Update:

We thank God that our daughter Vicki was able to join us for the Christmas Holidays.  She is now back at UC Davis continuing her studies, leading a Life Group, and serving as a leader in the Catalyst Campus Ministry.

Our son, Peter, went to Haiti on a ministry trip at the beginning of January but their whole team had to be evacuated due to unrest in the area where they were working.  Peter has one more quarter in a ministry training program at his church.  Please pray that God would guide him as to what to do next.

Please pray for Margie andas we seek to win a couple more people to Christ before our Adult New Believers Retreat the weekend of February 24-26.

Your missionaries,
Paul & Margie Varberg
