News From The Grobsteins

Please rejoice with us as we recount what God has done, and continues to do in Mexico.

Howard and I are jointly teaching a weekday chapel class this year.  Our students have a thirty minute chapel class every morning taught specifically at their level.  We have decided to choose a theme every Monday and reinforce it for the week.  This class is always a highlight for us and the students.  Our newest boy, Marco, has a sensitivity and heart for Jesus like I’ve never experienced before.  Virtually every morning he comes up to us and asks if we are going to have the “Jesus class” that day.  We have enjoyed seeing his biblical vocabulary and knowledge grow week by week.

We enrolled a new student from our Spanish website.  All that work and expense is starting to pay off.  Leonardo came to us from Sinaloa, Mexico and is somewhat of a celebrity in the deaf community.  He is unique because there are so many deaf people in his family.  We hosted a deaf group from Vancouver, Washington and a man in that group knew Leonardo’s family and had met his dad about 15 years ago!  The deaf community is a well connected community.  Leonardo is a very pleasant boy and we are thrilled to have him.  Howard has started working with him two days a week mowing lawns and doing projects around the property.  Leonardo is happy to have Howard in his life and the relationship is building stronger each week.

Twice a month, Howard has started teaching Sunday night church for our staff again.  We meet in our home so it’s a really nice time of fellowship as well.  Howard is teaching through II Corinthians with interesting insights into the life of the apostle Paul.  He also teaches a morning devotional each week where he is sharing from his own experience doing the 40-Day Journey with Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

We are making some definite plans for our move to Ensenada.  We found an apartment to rent that seems suitable for us so we signed the lease. That is an important check on the to-do list.  Our current apartment at RSM was furnished, so we are shopping for some basic furniture, like a couch, bed, dresser, etc.  We have a very loving friend who picked up a bed on Craigslist in the States and is bringing it down for us.  Another check on the to-do list!  The real packing hasn’t begun, but we have downsized so much over the years that even “Janet The Planner” isn’t too concerned.  Our new interest is “minimalism” and we are getting pretty good at it.  This will prove beneficial when we move into our new 600 sq. ft. apartment!

We will finish our commitment at RSM at the end of the school year, and we are planning to move around June 1st.

Thank you for your prayer and support.  Lives are being transformed daily, and it is possible because of your partnership in this amazing work of God.

Blessings to you!

Howard and Janet
